Mickey’s class will take up the subject of transformation in a hopeful light. In the Christian world words like conversion, transformation, and even rebirth trip easily off the tongue, but do people really change? Of course we know that some seem to, but maybe they were just open in the first place. More importantly, can people change for the better and if so, is there a reliable way for that to happen? In Genesis we will take up Jacob’s change to Israel and ask – was it a change of name only, a change of person, the awakening of what was already present in Jacob’s personality?
“It’s not the end of the world, But I can see it from here.” (From The Betrayed by Lostprophets). In the Wired Word Peggy Donaldson will lead a discussion of Harold Camping’s most recent, unfulfilled prediction of the end of the world on May 21, 2011. Does anyone know the day or the hour? How should our belief in the second coming affect how we live in the present?
The Transitions class will continue sharing about the passages we all face and how to meet the challenges of life with grace and health.
I appreciate that, from time to time, people suggest resources for Adult Ed. What we really need is teachers. We have really talented, wonderful teachers but the same names keep showing up. It would be especially helpful if you could teach over the summer when we add an Adult Seasons of the Spirit class (all resources are provided).
Have a safe Memorial Day, see you Sunday,
Bill
