In the Wired Word, we haven’t heard about faith in Russia for a long time. On the one hand, release from captivity of an officially atheistic state has meant a resurgence in interest in and identification with religious faith. But many people who identify themselves as Christian can’t answer even the most basic questions about the faith. And many who identify as Christian don’t belong to or actively participate in a Christian community. Sound familiar? Does it mean anything to call one’s self Christian if you don’t have to associate with Christians? There are certainly disadvantages to being persecuted, are there advantages as well?
Not only can’t you go home again, you can’t stay where you are either. Every year we enter new territory, physically and psychologically. Chip’s class will continue to walk together through the predictable and unpredictable changes that mark this adventure we call life.
Mickey’s class continues the walk through the foundational document of Western Civilization, the stories that frame our identity, the examples, good, bad, but always enlightening, of the people (and God) in Genesis.
See you Sunday,
Bill
