Peace Church's Lively Learning March 20th 2011

On this second day after St Patrick’s Day Mickey’s class will continue our in-depth reflections on the Patriarchs as we move on through one of the richest books of the Bible, Genesis.

This week’s Wired Word takes up the earthquake in Japan and the discussion can be rich with implications about society and the problem of evil. Does a massive natural disaster have to mean something? Is there anything we can or should learn from it or do big bad things just happen?

The Modern Spiritual Masters class will consider Thomas Merton. A Trappist monk and author, Merton remains one of the most influential spiritual guides of the twentieth century. Beginning with his autobiography The Seven Story Mountain and scores of other works, he blended contemplation and engaged spirituality.

And a reminder of the Spiritual Gifts class which will be held Sunday evenings starting March 21st. Seating is still available and today is the deadline for getting your orders for materials in to Betty so they will be here by start of class.

See you Sunday,
Bill
