Peace Adult Lively Learning February 6, 2011

Of course the turmoil in Egypt has dominated the news and must needs be dealt with in the Wired Word. It’s a quickly changing situation which raises questions of how citizens of the heavenly kingdom should live as citizens of our various governments. What criteria should Christians consider when deciding whether or not to participate in an uprising against established authority, churchly or governmental? The United States began with a revolution which some would call God-inspired and the European and colonial nations looked on our actions with dismay. (The French rejoiced and the British played “The World Turned Upside Down” at Cornwallis’ surrender.) Should that help us trust in Providence as the process unfolds?

Mickey Miller will continue our walk through Genesis. This week it’s the Fall. We’re made in the image of God but if that were all there was to it life would be a lot easier than it is. Let’s reread the story and discern not merely what Genesis 3 tells us about Adam and Eve over there and back then but what it tells us about ourselves here and now.

See you Sunday,
Bill
